I received my MRP certification because I know that when military staff and their families need to relocate, the services of a real estate professional who understands their needs and the timetable they are given, can make the transfer easier, faster, and less stressful for the service member and family. The National Association of Realtors certification for Military Relocation Professionals is focuses on educating agents how to work with current and former military service members, helping them to find the housing solutions that best suit their needs while taking full advantage of military benefits and support.
My husband, Tim Steers, moved from Oregon in 2000. Since then he has been serving our country as a United States Marine. In 2012 during a tour in Afghanistan he started studying for his real estate license. He successfully passed the tests when he returned to the States.
Having a retired Marine on the team means we've lived the PCS process ourselves — the orders, the timelines, the housing decisions made from six time zones away. That's not something you can learn from a certification.
Coastal Homes & Estates is also an approved DOD SkillBridge provider. We host transitioning service members full time during their last months of active duty — Tim came through the program himself in 2021. Very few real estate teams hold that approval. The military side of this business isn't a specialty we added. It's where we came from.
